Morning skincare routine
Your morning skincare routine should be about prevention, correction and protection so a good sunscreen and antioxidant should be at the top of the agenda. Both of these products will help to protect the skin from UV and environmental damage as you go about your day, while helping the skin to look brighter and more radiant.
The products
You should start by removing makeup, debris and pollution with a cleanser. SkinCeuticals Blemish + Age Cleanser is formulated with glycolic and salicylic acid and uses potent cleansing agents to help exfoliate, smooth and brighten the skin while leaving it feeling super clean. After washing away with warm water and patting the face dry, follow with an antioxidant serum such as SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic.
This high-potency serum delivers up to 8 x the environmental protection* in order to help protect the skin from free radical damage that can be responsible for fine lines, wrinkles and loss of firmness. SkinCeuticals Phloretin C F works in much the same way but is suited to oilier, combination skin types due to its lighter texture. It can also help improve discolouration with a formula combining 2% phloretin, 10% pure vitamin C (l-ascorbic acid), and 0.5% ferulic acid. Finally, end your morning routine with broad-spectrum sunscreen. SkinCeuticals Ultra Facial Defense SPF50 is lightweight yet hydrating and helps protect the skin from UV-induced collagen breakdown and dark spots .
Evening skincare routine
Your evening routine should be focused on prevention and correction, helping your skin to renew and restore itself as you sleep. It’s also the most effective time to introduce more active ingredients and treatments such as retinol.
The products
Start by cleansing your skin with SkinCeuticals Glycolic Renewal Cleanser. With a dual-acid formula, this soft-foaming cleanser gently removes impurities and delivers a true 8% glycolic acid which exfoliates the skin leaving it visibly brighter and rejuvenated. You should repeat this step to first remove makeup and then cleanse a little deeper into the pores on the second cleanse.
Next, follow with a corrective serum such as SkinCeuticals Retinol 0.3. This is the lowest dose of retinol in the SkinCeuticals range, hence it is ideal for those using it for the first time and ensures a steady, even release to minimise irritation. Start by applying it once or twice a week to help improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, blemishes, discolouration and visible pores and increase use as your skin becomes accustomed to it. If you have discolouration, you can then introduce a serum such as SkinCeuticals Discoloration Defense on alternate days.
Finally, hydrate your skin with SkinCeuticals Triple Lipid Restore 2:4:2. Lightweight and fast-absorbing, this anti-ageing cream restores essential lipids, ceramides, fatty acids and natural cholesterol. These work together to strengthen and repair the skin’s external barrier and improve overall skin tone. You’ll wake up from your beauty sleep with re-texturised, brighter and softer-looking skin.
CAUTION: When using Retinol 0.3 and Discoloration Defense Serum, we recommend allowing a 3 week acclimation period before introducing Discoloration Defense Serum as part of the nightly regimen. Once skin is accustomed to retinol, alternate use of Retinol 0.3 with Discoloration Defense Serum. Do not apply Discoloration Defense Serum on broken or irritated skin.
If you have never used retinol products, we would recommend beginning use two evenings a week, then gradually increase frequency to every other night.
