What is a Non-Ablative Laser Treatment?

The non-ablative laser improves the appearance of multiple unwanted skin conditions by delivering a controlled thermal injury into the deeper layers of the skin without physically harming the epidermis. In addition to improving targeted tissues, the non-ablative laser also stimulates new collagen production resulting in a thickened dermis with improved texture and appearance of the skin.

Important Information About Non-Ablative Laser

Non-ablative laser treatments are not for everyone. Patients who are pregnant, lactating or have a history of keloid scarring should avoid non-ablative laser. Any active infection in the treatment area is a contraindication as is the use of oral isotretinoin in the past 6 months.
The ideal patient for non-ablative laser resurfacing is generally 35 to 50 years of age and experiencing the early signs of photodamage and ageing. Older patients or patients with advanced laxity and deep wrinkles are more suited to ablative laser resurfacing. The range of available non-ablative laser treatments for acne scars, skin resurfacing and skin rejuvenation presents options for patients with darker skin tones, but it’s important to select an experienced practitioner who can provide examples of successful treatment of the non-ablative laser in similar skin tones as there is a risk for unwanted pigment changes.

Non-Ablative Laser Aftercare

In order to take care of the face or body after laser treatment, patients should follow the treatment provider’s guidelines. Below are SkinCeuticals’ recommended products for skincare after a non-ablative laser treatment.

*If you are considering an aesthetic treatment, always consult a Medical Professional. SkinCeuticals are cosmetic skincare products for topical use. Only apply on healed skin. Always wear SPF.
