Find the correct antioxidant serum for you skin type

When shopping for new skincare, it can be tempting to opt for the most hyped-about product of the moment. But while the latest cult skincare may be great for some, it may not be the best product for you and your complexion. That’s why it’s so important to get to know your skin and become familiar with the ingredients and formula types that suit you and give you the best results.

Not sure which of SkinCeuticals’ antioxidant serums are best for your skin type? We break down four of our most effective formulas, the ingredients within them, who they’re suited to, and most importantly, the results to expect.

C E Ferulic

Suitable for normal, dry and mature skin types skin types

C E Ferulic is one of SkinCeuticals most-loved cult serums, revered for its ability to improve visible signs of photo damage and the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and loss of firmness. This is due to its synergistic antioxidant combination of 15% pure vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid), 1% vitamin E (alpha tocopherol), and 0.5% ferulic acid. Together these ingredients deliver up to 8x the environmental protection while preventing free radical damage*. Use it alongside broad-spectrum sunscreen for enhanced protection.

“C E Ferulic is excellent for truly dry skin types that don’t suffer with breakouts and have minimal pigmentation,” explains Dr Jonquille Chantrey, Cosmetic Surgeon and International Aesthetic Lecturer. “The 1% Vitamin E is an anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory and contributes to skin barrier function and hydration levels. Vitamin E decreases with age so I use C E Ferulic in many of my mature patients and post-menopausal ladies”.

Phloretin CF

Suitable for normal, combination and discoloutation-prone skin types skin types

Packed full of all the antioxidant power of C E Ferulic but in a lighter texture, Phloretin CF is perfect for normal to combination skin types. It’s also proven to provide protection against free radicals generated by UV rays and pollution with a combination of 2% Phloretin, 10% pure vitamin C (L-ascorbic Acid), and 0.5% Ferulic Acid. This makes it ultra-effective at improving ageing signs and discolouration. With regular use, it can also reduce the appearance of fine lines by up to 24%**.

“Phloretin CF contains 10% L-AA and 0.5% Ferulic Acid for anti-oxidant activity but works synergistically on pigmentation with 2% phloretin,” says Dr Jonquille Chantrey.

Silymarin CF

Suitable for normal, oily and blemish-prone skin types

Silymarin CF is the latest addition to the SkinCeuticals antioxidant range, created to answer the needs of oily and blemish-prone skin. Formulated with 15% L-ascorbic acid (pure vitamin C antioxidant), Silymarin '0.5% Ferulic Acid (plant-based antioxidant), 0.5% Silymarin (derived from milk thistle plant' and 0.5% Salicylic Acid (Beta hydroxy acid), it helps to control excess sebum production, while reducing oil oxidation by up to 76% and improving signs of fine lines and wrinkles by up to 24%****. Created after six years of research and development, it’s also a breakthrough for SkinCeuticals and the beauty industry as a whole. ***

“I recommend Silymarin CF for my patients with oily skin” explains Dr Jonquille Chantrey. “As well as having the 15% L-AA and 0.5% Ferulic Acid it also contains another antioxidant that specifically reduces the oil oxidation process - lipid peroxidation.”
