Introducing Skinceuticals range of facial sunscreens

Adding a sunscreen to your beauty regime is just as important, if not more so, than applying a moisturiser or cleanser. Whatever the weather, you should always be wearing an SPF, especially on your face. An SPF can protect your skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays which can damage skin all year round. Skincare experts will often recommend applying a sunscreen on to your face every morning after moisturising but before your makeup. It’s also worth noting that you should be applying this 20 minutes before heading out to give it time to absorb into the skin so it really works as a protective layer.

SkinCeuticals has  a range of sunscreens that are formulated to provide broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection to the skin. This advanced line of sun protection features mineral filters and Mexoryl SX/XL, to help protect skin from the damaging UVA and UVB rays, proven to accelerate the signs of premature skin ageing. These sunscreens are also adapted for various skin types and lifestyles.

In this article we will be introducing the latest addition to the sun protection range, Advanced Brightening UV Defense Sunscreen SPF 50, which is a dual-action product created to help protect against UV-induced discolouration and to even out the skin’s complexion.

Introducing The Advanced Brightening UV Defense Sunscreen SPF 50

Our latest sun-protection product is a ultra-lightweight, residue-free formula, which combines broad-spectrum UV protection with a potent blend of discolouration-targeting ingredients for brighter, more even looking skin. This formula is enriched with 1% tranexamic acid and 2% niacinamide and broad spectrum UV filters to both help reduce the appearance of discolouration to help protect against future sun damage.

This product is suitable for normal, oily, dry and combination skin types, as well as ageing skin and hyperpigmented or uneven skin tones. As with all SkinCeuticals products, we rigorously tested this new formula to ensure the product met our standards. Advanced Brightening UV Defense Sunscreen showed statistically significant improvements in the appearance of hyperpigmentation, dark spot size, radiance and overall appearance.

Advanced Brightening UV Defense Sunscreen SPF 50 should be used before exposure to the sun, and then reapplied frequently and generously to maintain protection, especially after swimming, perspiring or towelling.

A Brief introduction to Tranexamic Acid [TXA] and Niacinamide

UV exposure can trigger the formation of skin discolouration by activating inflammatory mediators within the skin. A chain reaction occurs that causes the skin to produce melanin, which is the pigment that gives skin its colour. Although melanin is protective, when it’s produced in excess, it can form deposits in the skin that manifest as dark patches.

Tranexamic Acid is the newest ‘it’ acid to be used by skin experts. The new and upcoming ingredient is synthetic derivative of the amino acid lysine, known for its brightening effect on the skin and ability to improve the appearance of discolouration. It’s ideal for anyone dealing with hyperpigmentation, scarring from blemishes or dark spots.

Niacinamide, also known as Vitamin B3 is essentially a water-soluble vitamin that’s has brightening benefits and hydration.

When it comes to brightness, the super ingredient has been shown to prevent the transfer of pigment within the skin therefore reducing the appearance of brown spots

Along with brightness, it’s also known to help strengthen the skin’s
