Created in partnership with Sheerluxe.
BEST FOR: Oily, blemish-prone and ageing skin
Leslie says: Targeting adult blemishes, oiliness and visible signs of ageing in one fell swoop, this genius serum is a SkinCeuticals bestseller. Enriched with dioic acid, which helps to regulate oil production, as well as salicylic and glycolic acids, it makes light work of clogged pores and boosts cell renewal for a more radiant glow, as well as an improvement in skin tone.
BEST FOR: A youthful, glowier complexion and all round protection against atmospheric skin ageing (caused by pollution, UV and infrared radiation)
Leslie says: With a whopping 15% vitamin C, 1% vitamin E and 0.5% ferulic acid (a powerhouse combination of antioxidants), this award-winning serum will help neutralise free radicals, improve visible signs of photo-damage, plump up fine lines and brighten skin. Over the years it really has become the ‘not-so-secret’ secret weapon behind many an A-lister’s glowing complexion.
BEST FOR: Plumped-up fine lines and a lit-from-within glow
Leslie says: Hyaluronic acid has become a beauty buzzword in recent years, but applying it topically isn’t always efficient due to its molecular size, which means some formulas can’t be fully absorbed. SkinCeuticals Hyaluronic Acid Intensifier actually triggers your skin’s natural hyaluronic acid production – studies have shown it can boost the skin’s hyaluronic acid levels by 30% in just four weeks when used twice daily.
BEST FOR: A more even skin tone and all-round protection against atmospheric skin ageing (caused by pollution, UV and infrared radiation)
Leslie says: All skincare routines should start with an antioxidant serum in the morning and Phloretin CF is a great option for an individual with combination/oily skin and it is available in both serum and gel format. Famed for its ability to help both prevent future photodamage and correct existing signs of environmental damage, its effective formula will leave the skin looking plumper and improve skin’s radiance and texture over time.
BEST FOR: Irritated or red skin
Leslie says: Enriched with cucumber and hyaluronic acid, Phyto Corrective is a cooling serum that soothes and hydrates skin. This oil-free serum is ideal for sensitive skin that is prone to redness. There’s also a Phyto Corrective Masque in the range – use both for supercharged results and a more hydrated, soothed complexion.
BEST FOR: Uneven skin tone and texture
Leslie says: This exfoliating and replenishing serum has been clinically tested to replenish skin’s moisture levels, and improve skin’s regeneration rate for a healthier, more radiant complexion. Enriched with hyaluronic acid and kombuchka, it’s ideal for all skin types.
The 4 golden rules of using serum…
- Start with the thinnest formula first
If using more than one serum, always start with the thinnest, working up to the thickest. For example, if you use both C E Ferulic and a hyaluronic acid serum, start with C E Ferulic, which is naturally more water like in texture.
- It’s all in the application
Either spread the serum into the skin using a circular motion or use a light tapping motion. Both methods will help the serum to penetrate the skin more easily.
- Know when to use them
Take the time to read the small print on your serum – some are best used during the day (such as antioxidants) and others at night.
- Always get expert advice
Remember, a serum’s only as good as the advice that goes with it – ensure you buy from authorised stockists and find the formula that’s best suited to your skin type for maximum results.
